| Abstract: | Everywhere in the world the proportion of old people needing daily care is increasing. This forces the active population, particularly women workers, to adapt their working lives to fit. The author examines the different facets of this problem in industrialized and developing countries and reviews the public and private assistance programmes which already exist or need to be developed. The author concludes that more research is needed in order to gather the information necessary to improve the targeting of such programmes. |
