| Abstract: | Throughout Europe, managers and employee representatives in multinational companies are coming to grips with many of the practical matters raised by the European Works Councils Directive. Here, using the examples of 10 recent initiatives, the authors examine some of the key issues which are emerging as the September 1996 implementation date for the Directive approaches. The authors look at: the particular issues facing Nordic countries; Japanese companies in europe; the role of trade unions; management initiatives and contested agreements; divisional EWCs; dissemination, language and training; and women's participation. |
