Abstract:Working time and its relationship with employment are currently at the top of the bargaining agenda in France, at central, sectoral, and especially company level. The authors take a look at the innovative provisions of 13 recent company agreements. Central employers' organizations and trade union confederations signed an agreement on the reorganisation and reduction of working time on 32 October 1995, aimed at encouraging sectoral bargaining on the subject. Since then, negotiations have opened in 58 out of 100 sizeable industries.
