| Abstract: | The European Commission has recently put forward a set of measures and proposals aimed at improving equality at work for women and men. The authors examine briefly the initiatives on equal pay, sexual harassment and the burden of proof in equality cases. The Commission adopted the following: (1) a code of practice on the implementation of equal pay for work of equal value for women and men; (2) a draft Directive, based on the social policy Protocol and Agreement , and thus excluding the UK, on the burden of proof in sex discrimination cases; and (3) an evaluation document and consultation paper for the social partners on sexual harassment at work. |
