Abstract:The need for managers to continually learn and develop is taken as a given in today's competitive marketplace. Although our understanding of how managers learn from experience has grown significantly in recent years, reflection-in-action is an aspect of the learning process that has received little attention. Yet managers do reflect in action, and this reflection is a central element of how they make sense of and learn from experience. It is crucial to understand the learning environment in which learning experiences unfold.
