Abstract:This study explores the influences of alternative work arrangements (AWAs), subordinate (here as: s-o.) gender, and supervisor (as: s-v./s-vs.) attitudes and beliefs as to AWAs on performance evaluation (as: perf-evl.) judgments in public accounting. Based on over 140 experienced professionals from two U.S. Big Four firms evaluation of a hypothetical s-o.'s performance in an experimental setting, it is found that s-o. gender and AWA participation were significantly related to s-vs.' perceptions of the s-o.'s career success. In addition, it is also found that individual differences in s-vs.' attitudes and beliefs as to AWAs were systematically related to their perf-evl. judgments.
