Abstract:This article deals with the intersections of two "homes" and two "aways": the personal, 'private' home and the corporate 'public' 'away', and the national home country and corporate base and the transnational work away. Based on 40 semi-structured interviews with women and men (henceforth as: w-and-m.) top and middle managers in seven (7) multinational corporations located in Finland, this paper examines the complex relations among transnational managerial work, corporate careers and personal, marriage and family-type relations with their differences for w-and-m. managers. There are shown the very different personal and social worlds inhabited by senior w-and-m. managers, and how those differences can be enlarged by transnational processes.
