| Abstract: | In 1989 Switzerland earned about 11,500 million SFR from incoming tourism and fare payments to Swiss carriers. The amount spent by Swiss people travelling abroad and their fare payment was 10,300 million SFR, giving a favourable tourism balance of payments. Since the mid-1980s the tourism balance of payments has been declining. Earnings and tourism balance of payments 1965-1989 are tabulated. Data on incoming tourism, foreign arrivals at hotels and other tourist accomodation are presented. The most important indicators of foreign tourism in Switzerland are analyzed. An outlook is discussed briefly. |
