| Abstract: | This report analyses the market for travel and tourism in Italy. A weak lira with appeal of Italian tourist destinations drove growth in the dynamic market for incoming tourism, increased by 41.8% in volume terms between 1993 and 1997 to reach 29.8 ml arrivals. It is expected that incoming tourism will continue to rise, reaching a volume of 42 ml arrivals by 2002. The value of the market is forecast to grow by 22.2% in real terms. |
