| Abstract: | A combination of factors has made Senegal the most popular destination in West Africa for European tourists. These include a temperate coastal climate, miles of superb beaches, and a wide choice of hotels and resorts within easy distance of the capital, Dakar. Many visitors prefer package holidays, but Senegal also caters for independent travelers. As well as the charter flight options, scheduled European airlines serve Dakar as does Air Senegal International (ASI), which offers a convenient direct overnight service from Paris Orly. For the essential sun, sea and sand holiday, few African countries offer a better package than Senegal. Tourism is second only to agriculture in economic importance to the country, and new investment continues apace. |
