Abstract: | Timeshare (here as: t-s.) owners (here as: t-s-os.) are a special group of tourists having additional connections with the tourism destination through their t-s. Based on a questionnaire survey of the United States (U.S.) t-s-os. (N=302), this study aims to explore the relationships among t-s-os.' perceptions of tourism planning (as: t-plng.), civic engagement, sense of place, and willingness to participate (as: w-to-p.) in t-plng. Using a two-stage structural equation modelling approach, the results from the structural model suggested that t-s-os.' perceptions of t-plng., their past history of civic participation, and their sense of place significantly impact their w-to-p. in t-plng., while t-s-os.' past experience in political participation did not significantly affect their w-to-p. in t-plng. |
