Abstract: | The authors have applied the institutional theory approach in order to examine the ways in which external pressure results in changes in the venture idea during the early life of new knowledge-based ventures. Data was gathered among 167 knowledge-intensive firms that participated to a training program at Swedish university at Linköping. The results show that in ventures that have more external owners, a dominant customer and an incubator location the venture idea had undergone more changes. As a conclusion the authors suggest that institutional theory really is an effective tool to understand why and how venture ideas change in process of time. |
