Abstract: | This paper investigates the performance (hereafter as: perf.) effects of two knowledge-driven (for 'knowledge' as: knw.) strategies, that is, i. internal knw. development and ii. external knw. access through inter-firm relationships in the venture capital (here as: v-cap.) investing context. Based on longitudinal data on the investments, syndication, and performance of 200 U.S. based v-cap. firms, it is found among others that investing in industries in which a firm has more knw. and investing with more or familiar external partners enhances investment perf. etc. |
