Abstract: | The reasoning practices and argumentation system deployed by the Bush administration to build a case for the war on Iraq are described. E.g. the Bush administration's description of Hussein's character and political implications following it are analyzed and how these understandings were utilized to argue that Hussein's regime possessed weapons of mass destruction and had relationships with terrorists. The overall analysis demonstrates that an argumentation system was built through a dialectical process whereby one way of thinking helped to legitimize subsequent ones. |
