Abstract:This study examines which internationalization (hereafter as: intzn.) modes are used by Born Globals in their initial and continued intzn. Based on longitudinal data from eight biotechnology Born Globals, the firms are divided into three subsets: i. the low committers using low commitment intzn. modes in their initial and continued intzn., ii. the incremental committers experiencing an increase from low to high commitment modes in their continued intzn., and iii. the high committers using both low and high commitment intzn. modes from inception. The critical difference among these three subsets is the speed at which these firms commit resources to foreign markets.
