Abstract:Business impacts on children are complex, multi-faceted, and frequently overlooked by senior managers. This article reports on a systematic analysis of the reputational landscape built by the media, companies, and non-government organizations (NGOs) around business responsibilities (herein as: resps.) to children. Applying a content analysis methodology to a sample of more than 350 relevant accounts during a 5-year period, identified are seven core resps. used to provide a framework for enabling businesses to map their impact range on children. Guidelines are set out for how to identify and manage the firm's strategic resps. and identify the constraints faced by companies in meeting such responsibilities.
