Abstract:The purpose of the article is to describe the leaders that cause problems in their organizational environment by being abusive and treating the members of the organization with disregard. The authors name this phenomenon "organizational terrorism". Extant literature on (political) terrorism, and leaders' ethical duties is reviewed. The article integrates these two insights and examine four traditional employee responses to dysfunctional organizational leadership: Exit, Voice, Loyalty or Neglect. The authors further explain why exercising voice is the most effective of these responses.
