Abstract:The initiative taken by the Market Research Society in the period coming up to the June 1987 UK General Election is described. The experiences of the former opinion polls are analyzed. The new feasibility study is outlined. The members of the advisory group are listed. The proposed principles and methods of the 1987 opinion polls are discussed. The main problems of the methodology are summarized. A review is presented about the initiative's public activities. Statistical data about the general public's attitude to the accuracy of opinion polls are analyzed. Results are compared with the former ones.
