Abstract:This is the introduction to the articles in this special issue. The focus of the articles is on the underlying forces that might shape the future of e-commerce in the 21st century, particularly the influence of consumer behaviour. The editorial section also provides some brief perspective on the twin forces that drove the e-commerce phenomenon during its early phase: technology and economics.
