Abstract: | Until this international management research has largely focused on the cultural mean instead of intra-cultural variation (hereafter as: ICV) i.e. dispersion of people within a culture. This article aims to extend the theory of ICV and practices pertaining job autonomy (hereafter as: job-aut.) and work organizations examining ICV of job-aut. using secondary data from 42 countries. The potential significance of ICV in international management research is underscored for results indicate that ICV of job-aut. accounts for job satisfaction and well-being as much as cultural mean of job-aut. and that ICV of job-aut. is able to capture also the societal processes. |
