Abstract:This study examines the beneficial effects of vacation to employees' well-being and the fade-out of these effects. 131 teachers answered questionnaires one time before and three times after the vacation. Findings show that teachers' work engagement substantially increased and teachers' burnout significantly decreased after vacation. However, these beneficial effects faded out within one month. Using hierarchical regression analyses, it was found that job demands after vacation expedited the fade-out of beneficial effects while leisure time relaxation after vacation delayed the fade-out of beneficial effects.
