Abstract:The Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations regulates a wide variety of businesses through licensing, registration and inspection. Its purpose is to ensure a fair, safe and honest marketplace. Ontario consumers can get the answers to questions ranging from where one goes to register a business to what companies are involved in renovating homes that a 24-hour, seven-day-per-week voice processing system is in place. The new system serves the Consumer Information Centre and the Companies Branch, two distinct offices in the Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations and Ministry of Financial Institutions. It is shown how the project proceeded through the phases of acquisition, implementation and review.
