Abstract: | The data support the existence of pay differentials between men and women. This study aims to focus on the supply-side of the wage gap problem. Using an expectancy theory framework, a sample of 272 job applicants evaluated a set of job outcomes and rated the instrumentalities and expectancies for each of 8 jobs.It is suggested that a combined approach emphasizing both internal wage restructuring and decreases in self-imposed occupational segregation should reduce the wage gap faster than wage restructuring alone. |
