Abstract: | Proponents of the core competence concept profess that a corporation's deployment of its core competencies is an essential component to fostering new business development (NBD) successfully. This paper focuses on the process of identifying, acquiring, developing and managing core competencies in NBD programmes; i.e. the practicalities of employing the concept in day-to-day NBD endeavors. The authors propose that the importance and complexity of NBD and other related concepts - strategic intent and misfit - imply strongly that the NBD process itself should be considered an essential core competence for the modern corporation. |
