Abstract:The role and the position of women managers is discussed. The proposal to the Manpower Services Commission for an accelerated development programme for women is described. Its purpose was to increase the number of women in middle management posts in the industry, identify those with management potential, and obtain case studies. The programme offered to companies is outlined. It consisted of nine modules. Interpretation problems are analysed. A questionnaire was submitted to all participants to elicit views about the programme's benefits. Success factors are examined. Management development is described as an investment for the future.
