Abstract:Structural impediments that make it difficult for the large corporation to manage small innovative firms are considered. Empirical studies confirm that these disadvantages typically outweigh the resource advantages of the large firm. A review of the literature on the link between acquiusitions and innovation is provided, and the declining performance of acquired firms is explained.
