Abstract:The ability of companies to recognize concerns of the society in which they operate is a key factor in organizational learning. Only if companies perceive issues early in their attention cycle will they have the scope to define an appropriate response. This article reviews the trends in socio-political environment of German companies from 1950-1988 and compares the results with those stemming from a content analysis of German corporate policy statements.
