Abstract:recent events at Archers-Daniels-Midland (ADM) have certainly caught the attention of the business world. It all started when former ADM executive Mark Whitcare, turned FBI informant and whistleblower, claimed that the company conspired to fix prices and paid under-the-table bonuses to executives, allowing them to avoid paying taxes. The goings on at ADM have also caught the government's attention. The company is now the subject of three separate grand jury probes. It should not be surprising then that the annual shareholders meeting in October was expected to be contentious, since certain investors had expressed dismay with ADM's management.
