| Abstract: | This paper attempts to relate the economic theory of the firm with the theory of corporate capital structure. It suggests that capital structure can be understood in light of the theory of the firm, in the sense that different strategies for raising capital represent different degrees of "internalization" for the finance decision. Conversely, the capital structure literature can provide insights on the theory of the firm. |
