| Abstract: | There is no crisis in Russian banking, Russian bankers never tire of explaining. There is a "continuing shakeout" and it is "the full impact of a process which began a year ago". But there is no crisis. For each big bank which stumbled or crashed this summer, colleagues at other houses find "specific", rather than "general" explanations. Management of these banks, the market now recalls, was amateurish and incautious, though until lately it had seemed fine, claims the author of this paper. |
