Abstract:Economic growth in the 20th century is without precedent in the history of mankind. Gross domestic product (or GDP) per person has increased more than fivefold in the US since the beginning of the century, compared to a tripling in the century before. Yet beside the higher speed of growth compared to previous centuries, the most perplexing feature of the 20th century growth is its variation across countries. In the article, there are also data on several country specific economic indicators from 1960, 1960-1990, and 1960-1995 on the rate of economic growth, investment quota, population, education etc.
