Abstract: | The main contribution of the paper is a method allowing one to study the effects of different degrees of competition. It is found that optimal prices and profits are more sensitive to cooperative than to aggressive behaviour on the part of competitors. With more aggressive policies, the average pricing level decreases and the average difference btw. high and low prices increases. The is an empirical model of the detergent market illustrating the methodology. |
