| Abstract: | Eastern European firms are increasingly being exposed to international competition. Experiences so far indicate that many of these firms are not competitive in terms of customer benefit and/or costs of their products and services. To increase their competitiveness, firms in transition must realize product innovations, process innovations, or both. The atarting conditions determine which strategy is preferable. To implement these strategies, firms must quickly gain access to new technology. |
