| Abstract: | As the title indicates, this article discusses two connected issues that are, however, of different scope and are accordingly discussed separately. Thus, in the first instance this article offers a review and discussion of the business-systems perspective. The discussion concentrates on the challenge to the business systems perspective from economics. This in turn leads to into the opposite challenge, namely, the challenge of the business-systems perspective to economics, which finally leads into a broad consideration of the links and differences between economics and sociology as these relate to the study of organizations. |
