Abstract:The article examines the nature of corporate social responsibility (CSR), how it could be applied in an international context, and reviews multiple forms of stakeholding that might support it. At a national level, stakeholder activism rarely leads to responsible behaviour, and management should somehow be ethically bound to pursue growth with responsibility. However, on the international level, some stakeholders might be left unheard and this should ethically be corrected. The article examines stakeholding for corporate citizenship in an international environment, and explores international organizations meant for promoting CSR.
