Abstract:This study aims at bridging two research streams, that is, the one on organizational identity (here as: org-id.) and the one on employer branding (or employer image, here as: e-img). It is posited to be crucial to examine which factors company outsiders (applicants) and company insiders (employees, as: empls.) associate with a given employer. The instrumental-symbolic framework is used to study factors relating to both e-img. and org-id. of the Belgian Army (here as: A.), using a sample of 258 Army applicants (as: appls.) and another of 179 military empls. It is shown that both instrumental and symbolic perceived image dimensions predict appls.' attraction to the A.
