| Abstract: | Great efforts on maintenance of basic data, a high degree of redundancy and the high administrative load of qualified labour force are the characteristic features of the conventional variant-parts lists. The expert system technique constitutes an efficient aid here. In the manufacture of a product with numerous independent parameters, introduction of the expert system technique enables to save memory capacity and to convert purchase orders into direct manufacturing instructions by feeding the parameters into the computer. |
