Abstract:Internationalization is discussed as a pervasive force in marketing today. The importance of understanding the needs of consumers is stressed. General attitudes of Finnish consumers to products made in selected European countries are explored. Research methodology is described. Results are summarized. Attitudes towards marketing practices associated with the products were investigated. Finnish consumers seem to have the most positive feelings towards Japanese and West German products and marketing methods. The data collected highlight several general product attributes and marketing practices that can be improved by foreign companies.
