Abstract: | Contradictions in the absenteeism- turnover relationship have urged researchers to seek a better understanding of how these two forms relate.Recent work on socialization and on job-related experiences at work suggests that this relationship may vary as a function of tenure. This study examined this notion and found an important moderating effect for tenure.Low-tenured employees who were absent more often tended to be less inclined to leave, while high-tenured ones who were absent more showed a stronger inclination to leave. |
