| Abstract: | Among the "timeless articles" from the 1963-1987 volumes of the journal this one /from 1983/ deals with operations management decision making. It is seen as a process where outcomes are influenced by feasibility, desirability and preference factors. It takes place within the context of business decision-making. Capacity decisions are examined in detail. A case example illustrates the strategic relationships. The operations manager's preferences, power and responsibility have clear cause and effect relationships with policy decision-making and the decisions in other business functions. The mutual constraints and limitations are discussed. |
