Abstract:Many regulatory measures such as legislation and economic incentives have been introduced to protect and promote sustainable landscape development but recently it's become clear that legislation changes alone are not enough. The public acceptance of undertaken actions is generally agreed to be one of the key factors affecting the success of those measures. This paper, based on interviews of 22 Swiss, investigates which conditions and factors have an effect, negative or positive, on the public acceptance. The findings suggest that perception, communication and the possibilities to participate are the most central factors in the formation of a long-term acceptance.
