Abstract: | In the paper, a stochastic model for optimization of stock of technical system units is presented. Only vital system units are taken into account. Failures of such units cause serious degradation of system function or even total system break-down.Our model enables calculation of total costs due to unit failures and renewals as a function of the number of spare units.Procedures for the determination of model parameters are described.Fault tree technique was chosen for the determination of unit failure rate.The model has been used to calculate optimum stock level for locomotive engines in Slovenian railway traffic system. |
