Abstract:Electronic mail is now the most frequently used network-based application, and there is a growing interest in ensuring its security.I the paper, the most important security threats to electronic mail messages are shown.The two possible approaches to provide security services are presented: implementation of security services on end-to-end basis, and incorporation of security services into the communication services architecture.Security services can be best supplied on an end-toend basis when electronic mail involves the usage of highly complex and heterogeneous Internet network.Two modern aproaches to provide electronic mail security in Internet environment are presented.
