| Abstract: | The Club of Rome, which first alerted public opinion to the real risk of mankind's exceeding the globe's carrying capacity with its 1972 report "The Limits to Growth" recently celebrated its 30th birthday. Although the weaknesses in methodology of that initial report have long since been acknowledged, the underlying thesis that traditional economic growth, as distinct from enhanced quality of life, is literally unsustainable, remains as challenging as ever. |
