Abstract: | The subjects of the paper are the following topics: European Union Membership, international relations, business enterprises. The author of the paper discusses the effects of the expansion of the European Union (EU) as a result of the membership of some countries. The paper pays an attention to the impact of the expansion to Eastern Europe on business, considers the conditions for countries to qualify for EU membership. The author also speaks about the efforts of candidate countries to meet the criteria for EU membership. The paper states that business planners can now look forward to a fourth wave of EU enlargement in the present decade, with up to ten ex-communist central and east European countries. |
