Abstract:Information sharing is a prerequisite for achieving firm success and an important aspect of interdepartmental integration. However, centralisation has been found to inhibit information sharing, being a significant predictor of organizational performance. In differentiating the respondents based on centralisation, acceptability to the recipient and the degree of surprise included in the information are important. Decentralisation leads to higher levels of customer satisfaction, building effective customer relationships etc.
