| Abstract: | There are 1206 km long boundary line and 13 large and small ports in Jilin province bordering on North Korea. The total volume of border trade and barter trade in 1993 was US dollar 471.256 million, among which imports were US dollar 241.653 million and exports were US dollar 229.603 million. Because of the strong economic complementarity between Jilin and North Korea, there is great potential in the development of such markets as auto, timber, steel, mineral and mechanical equipments. It is estimated that North Korea's import of mechanical equipment and grain will increase in a few years to come. |
