| Abstract: | The history and the present situation of Silicon Valley is reviewed. Opinions about the topic are summarized. The future of the US microelectronics industry is discussed. The question of government intervention to support the established companies is examined. The relationship between computer complexity and price is analyzed. Recommendations for development are outlined. Methods for encouraging the entrepreneurs are discussed. It is found to be important that microelectronics pulls decision making down to the individual. This factor is interpreted as a general law of future development. The importance of entrepreneurialism is emphasized. |
