Abstract:Internet-base patient-physician portals have provided a new channel to communicate with healthcare providers and access personal medical information. This paper reports on quantitative research which empirically investigated patient behavioral intentions to use such web portals. The survey of 294 first-time user patients indicated that usefulness and innovativeness have a positive direct effect on behavioral intentions with respect to use of electronic communications and accessing of individual medical information.
