| Abstract: | The National Museum in Jakarta bears testimony to the ethnic diversity of Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, with almost 200 million people and around 17,000 islands. It is stuffed full of artefacts from Indonesia's many ethnic groups, including gold objects and weapons. A visitor to Jakarta is also struck by heavy traffic and exhaust fumes, characteristic of many big Asian cities and evidence of Indonesia's racing economic growth. |
